I, the renting pilot, agree to:

  1. Operate in accordance with all applicable FAA regulations.
  2. Not use the aircraft for flight instruction of any individual, unless I am authorized in writing to do so by Santa Monica Flyers.
  3. Land only at FAA-designated airports that are safe and suitable under the prevailing conditions.
  4. Not land at:
    a. Non-paved or unimproved runways.
    b. Runways shorter than 2,000 feet.
    c. Catalina (KAVX) or Big Bear (L35) without first completing a checkout from SMF.
  5. Not authorize or allow any other person to operate or handle the aircraft.
  6. Not bring any pets or animals on board.
  7. Notify Santa Monica Flyers if I am unable to return the aircraft by the designated time for any reason. I understand that I will be subject to a late return fee of $200.00. If a subsequent reservation is affected, a fee equal to one hour of aircraft rental, and, if applicable, one hour of instructor time, will be charged in addition.
  8. Pay any landing fees, tie down fees, or any other charge incurred while the aircraft is in my possession (excluding fuel per below).).
  9. Document any fuel purchases and provide an original receipt upon aircraft return. I understand the appropriate funds used to purchase fuel will be credited to my account.Advise SMF if fuel is less than full for aircraft designated as “dry” rentals prior to commencing the flight. If the airplane is returned with less than full fuel for aircraft designated as “dry” rentals, I agree to be billed for the amount of fuel required to fill the tanks at the current rate at KSMO. The amount of fuel will be determined by assessing  the fuel gauges, fuel totalizer, visual inspection of the tanks, or combination thereof.
  10. Make any special fuel requests at least eight hours prior to the start of the reservation by contacting SMF Reception and/or noting in the reservation. Aircraft will be provided with full fuel unless a special fuel request is made.Report all accidents or incidents, whether major or minor, to SMF immediately, together with the names and addresses of witnesses and involved parties. In the event of an accident, I will not permit the aircraft to be moved unless expressly authorized by SMF or local, state, or federal authorities, and will exert best efforts to protect the aircraft and its equipment from further loss.
  11. Conduct a comprehensive preflight inspection, acquire a comprehensive pilot briefing, and acquaint myself with all relevant flight-related information. Prior to commencing the flight, I agree to verify the Hobbs Meter reading. I will promptly notify Reception of any Hobbs meter discrepancy prior to initiating the flight.
  12. Pay the cost of ferrying the aircraft if left at an airport other than Santa Monica Airport (KSMO) for any reason other than maintenance. This cost will include the Hobbs time required to fly an aircraft round trip to the airport of location, the Hobbs time to fly the aircraft I left at that other airport back to KSMO, and the time of the instructor(s) who facilitate the ferry.
  13. Not operate a SportCruiser into or at any airport with surface temperatures above 32 ℃ (89.6℉), however, a SportCruiser flight may terminate at KSMO even above those temperatures. I understand the SportCruiser fleet will be grounded, including flights with a CFI, if the KSMO surface temperature exceeds 32 ℃ (89.6℉) OR if the air temperature aloft over KSMO exceeds 35℃ (95℉) based on the LA Aviation Forecast Discussion/any other temperature reports.
  14. Remain current in each aircraft I fly in accordance with FARs and to have a recheck with an SMF instructor if I have not flown that make and model aircraft within the preceding three months at Santa Monica Flyers.
  15. Not participate in any charter/air-taxi/Part 135 operations. I understand SMF will not do so either.
  16. The following refund policy: A full refund will be given for any deposited, unused funds within 30 days of a written request. 26. Pay for the replacement of any tires due to pilot error (e.g. excessive brakes applied) during landing or takeoff, including the cost of labor, even if I am unaware of causing the damage.
